SuperFriend
Copyright 2001 13th Disciple Ministries

I remember kryptonite and gamma rays,
Every single Saturday morning glued to the tube.
I saw a man of steel and one a green light
And they all seemed to fuss and fight
With the bad guys most of the time
They had temporary struggles and
Life ending situations and sometimes not a clue.
I remember a boy with a wondering mind
Saying "Batman, what will we do?"
If I could only tell them

(Chorus)
I have a Superfriend You oughta get to know Him
And all your fears would be at rest,
But while I sing as of late, I don't recall a
Red cape or an S on his chest.
With a crown of thorns and a spear in his side
He gave his only Son to save my life.
If you'll accept him now, then when the
Darkness looms, in His strength you'll
Defeat and overcome the Legion of Doom.

Down the hall to the linens I would go,
To find a cape of my own, but I never seemed
To leave the ground.
Maybe not as fast as a bullet,
but down deep In my heart I knew it,
I could leap the coffee table in a single bound.
Across the street I would fly,
to the sound of desperate cries,
There stood a blonde haired girl with tears in her eyes.
With that Dream House I'm in debt,
I just wrecked the pink 'vette, and the days not over yet.
If I could only tell her…

(Chorus2)
I have a Superfriend, and he'll lift you up again,
On this I know.
All these things sure are nice,
but they didn't come without a price,
You can gain the whole world and yet lose your soul.
True happiness is found, when you lay your life down
And turn it over to the one who loves you so.
If you seek Jesus you'll find, you won't be left behind
And never more will you roam.
'Cause he's got a dream home of his own.

Lookin' back I learned a lot
From all my friends there in the box
I don't know how, but they left their mark
I can reminisce about those days
But they will never take the place
Of the Word that's hidden within my heart
You see when I was eight years old
My Grandma told me
About a man who had come to set me free
And from that day on, the battle's been won
'Cause I have God's only Son
Living inside of me.

(Chorus 3)
I have a Superfriend
Now it's time that you let Him in
And let Him heal your broken heart
When all these things pass away
He's the only one that stays the same
And He'll meet you right where you are
Without a cape or a mask
He's the only one that lasts
And understands all the pain you're living in
He's been there before knocking at your heart's door
And He'll be there to the end
That's why Jesus is my Superfriend.
