Are You a Christian?

If you were to die tonight, do you know where you would go? Have you ever prayed and asked God or Jesus into your life or heart?

If you answered "no" to these questions, then the chances are high that you are not saved. If you are not saved, don't fool yourself - you are headed toward eternity in hell when you die. Also don't let Satan convince you that hell is just a place where people sin all day. The Bible says that hell is a place of continual torment where you are burned by fire constantly, but not burned up. Getting saved or "accepting Christ" is the only way to avoid going to hell. Thankfully, God made salvation a very simple process and an absolutely free gift. You cannot purchase or earn your salvation. You parents or friends being Christians will not save you. Going to church or being good will not save you. The Bible says that Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) According to the Bible, here's what you need to know to be saved:

• There is none righteous, no not one. (Romans 3:10) What this means is that no one is good enough on their own to get into heaven - not even the pope.
• For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23) In other words, everyone has sinned and because of that, you come up short against God's measuring stick
• By one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin: so that death passed upon all men, for all have sinned. (Romans 5:12) Because of Adam's sin, we are all destined for the pits of hell upon death.
• The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Because of Adam's sin, we all deserve to go to hell. God provided a way around that fate when He sacrificed Jesus (the perfect sacrifice) on the cross for all our sins.
• God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8) God loves us so much that He was willing to die for us even though we reject Him with our sin.
• If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans10:9-10) All you have to do is say out loud that Jesus is God and believe that He was crucified, buried, and then rose again for your sins. Now isn't that simple?
• For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) No matter who you are, if you do what God tells you to do for salvation, He has promised that you will forever be saved from going to hell.

Now that you know these things, you may be wondering exactly how to be saved... it's very simple. Just pray a prayer similar to this example:

"Lord please forgive me for my sins. I believe that You sent Your Son (Jesus) to die on the cross for my sins. Please come into my life. I give You complete control over my life. Thank You God for saving my soul. Amen"

Now comes the hard part.. The Bible says that when you're saved, you become a new creation. (II Corinthians 5:17) This means your sinful life is now dead and gone and a new life of following Christ begins. The Bible also says that if you publicly confess Jesus is you savior, he will confess you are His child before God. In our church this is typically done by walking to the front of the church during the invitation and telling the Pastor, Minister, or counsellor that you've accepted Christ.
